Informed and prepared

2022 - 2023

Plans are consistent with guidance issued by the American College Health Association, Centers for Disease Control, and state and local health departments. They are subject to change at any time. As we navigate this together, our efforts continue to be guided by two key principles:

  • Protecting the health and safety of our community of students, faculty and staff, and the greater Saratoga Springs community
  • Providing access to a residential, excellent liberal arts education

Current Policies and Guidelines

Skidmore will continue to follow CDC recommendations for masking on campus. When the Community Level is “low” or “medium,” masking indoors will not be required on campus but will continue to be supported. When the Community Level is “high,” masking indoors will be required. Skidmore continues to be a mask-supportive and mask-friendly community. Individuals should feel free and comfortable to wear a mask whenever and wherever they wish.

Students: All students are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before arriving on campus for the fall unless exempted from this requirement as a reasonable accommodation of a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. All eligible students were required to receive a booster shot by Jan. 24, 2022 or within 30 days of becoming eligible. Learn more

Faculty and Staff: All faculty and staff (union and non-union) are required to be fully vaccinated, unless exempted from this requirement as a reasonable accommodation of a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. All eligible faculty and staff were required to receive a booster shot by Jan. 24, 2022 or within 30 days of becoming eligible. Learn more

Visitors: All visitors to campus are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated, including booster. Review Visitor guidelines.

Effective as of the fall 2022 semester, the campus will discontinue the use of PCR surveillance testing (both optional and mandatory) via the Broad Institute. Free rapid tests will be easily available from Campus Safety to all students who are concerned about symptoms or exposure. Health Services may perform PCR testing in symptomatic individuals with negative rapid tests but persistent and/or concerning symptoms.

Indoor gatherings and meetings of more than 60 people are permitted indoors and no longer require special approval. (Normal procedures for approving events still apply and limitations may be set due to other factors.) COVID-19 protocols for upcoming campus events will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may include additional required testing and safety measures. Food and drink are still acceptable at events.

All visitors to campus are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated, including booster. LEARN MORE
